North Stars fall to Lumberjacks

The Granite City Lumberjacks scored three times in the first and third periods to down Breezy Point 6-0 in North American Tier III junior hockey action on Sunday, Jan. 26.

David Kennedy scored twice while Drew Otto had a pair of assists for the Lumberjacks, who enjoyed a 38-14 edge in shots. Chris Hjorth’s unassisted goal accounted for the only scoring for the North Stars.

Losing goaltender Joey Bergquist stopped 31 shots for Breezy Point.

On Saturday, Jan. 25, the North Stars lost to Alexandria 4-2. The game was tied 1-1 after two periods before the Blizzard scored three times in the third session. Nick Johnson scored in the second period for Breezy Point while Russel Barone tallied in the third period.

The North Stars, 7-29-2 overall, are scheduled to play at the Minnesota Flying Aces of Little Falls on Friday, Feb. 7.
