Lightning lose to River Lakes


The Northern Lakes Lightning boys’ hockey team was defeated by River Lakes (Cold Spring/Paynesville) 6-3 in non-conference play on Saturday, Jan. 25, in Paynesville.

Nick Reed scored for the visitors to cut the deficit to 2-1, but River Lakes answered with two more goals. Kyle Sellner scored for Northern Lakes late in the period, but the Stars answered with a goal a minute later.

Losing netminder Mitch Stangel made 31 saves while Trevor Meed stopped 26 shots.
