Bella Abear scored twice while Hannah Zimmerman, Madi McMonigan, Lexi Danielson, Brittney Knox and Sam Bittner also tallied. Lightning goaltender Hailey Deutsch, who played the first half of the game, and Madison Galligan combined for 20 saves. MaKenzie Davidson stopped 39 shots for the Bears, who dropped to 1-20 overall.

“We came out in the first period not playing the smart hockey we played in our previous game (against Hutchinson on Jan. 21),” said Lightning coach Kristen Harsha. “We finally started passing and playing the level of hockey we needed to be playing.”

The Lightning, 8-13, played Detroit Lakes on Tuesday, Jan. 28, and is scheduled to host Wadena-Deer Creek on Thursday, Jan. 30, at Breezy Point Arena.
