Revolution dance team places second at two meets

The Pequot Lakes Revolution dance team had a strong showing at two competitions last weekend, with three second-place finishes.

Pequot Lakes varsity placed second behind the Aitkin All-Starz at a conference jazz meet Saturday, Jan. 17, at Pine River-Backus High School. Crosby-Ironton, Detroit Lakes, Pierz and Wadena-Deer Creek rounded out the competition.

Host Pine River-Backus performed an exhibition kick routine but did not compete. Pequot Lakes junior varsity placed fourth.

On Saturday, Jan. 18, the teams competed at Monticello High School, where varsity took second place in high kick with a 6.5 rank and 320 total points. Albany won in high kick.

Pequot Lakes varsity also placed second behind leader Becker in the jazz competition, with a rank total of 5.5 and 291 total points. At Monticello, junior varsity won the high kick division and took second in jazz.

“The competitions we have been attending this season have been very close in scores with the other teams, which makes it very exciting and very nerve-wracking at the same time,” said Coach Amber Peterson. “With two weeks until our section tournament, our goal is to bring our scores up about 2-3 points per judge. We need to stay very focused and continue to work towards our personal best.”

Pequot Lakes will host the conference championship meet at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, in the Athletic Center at Pequot Lakes High School.
