Stone second at Moose Mountain

Pequot Lakes freshman Alex Stone placed second to lead the Brainerd Warrior girls’ alpine skiing team to a second-place finish in the Moose Mountain Invitational on Friday, Jan. 10.

Brainerd coach Jim Ruttger said 15/100ths of a second separated the Warrior girls from first-place Cook County.

Stone was second behind Cook County’s Reilly Wahlers after finishing her first run in 58.39 seconds. She then turned in the fastest time (1:02.20) for the second run for a combined time of 2:00.59. Hannah Moen was third for Brainerd with a combined time of 2:06.70.

Brainerd was scheduled to compete at the St. Cloud/Annandale Invitational on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Powder Ridge in Kimball.

Girls team scores: 1-Cook County 140, 2-Brainerd 139, 3-Centennial 92, 4-Virginia 80, 5-Hibbing 74

Individual winner: Reilly Wahlers (Cook County) 2:00.02
