Pequot Lakes Diamond Club to conduct baseball clinics

The Pequot Lakes Baseball Diamond Club invites students to participate in its first baseball winter training clinics.

The club will offer instruction to students in grades 4-6 and grades 7-9. It will offer a two-hour session on fielding techniques, a two-hour session on hitting techniques and a one-hour pitcher/catcher clinic.

The winter clinics will be held from 3-5 p.m. in the middle school gym on the following dates.

• Grades 4-6: fielding clinic, Jan. 19; hitting clinic, Feb. 16; pitcher/catcher clinic, March 2.

• Grades 7-9: fielding clinic, Jan. 26; hitting clnic, Feb. 23; pitcher/catcher clinic, March 2.

Cost is $40 to attend both the fielding and hitting clinic, or $50 to attend all three clinics. The Diamond Club will try to keep a 6:1 player-to-coach ratio, so if the number of players registering early exceeds this ratio the clinics may be divided into a 3-5 p.m. session and a 5-7 p.m. session to allow for more one-on-one instruction.

The Diamond Club will gather coaches from the high school and summer baseball leagues, as well as other local coaches and ballplayers, to help conduct the clinic sessions.

Registration forms are available and early registration returns are sought to determine numbers. Return forms and payment to Deanne Trottier at Eagle View, Garry Grewe at Pequot Lakes Middle School, Jon Kotaska at the high school, or any other member of the Diamond Club. Checks can be made out to PAC.

Players also will be able to enroll the day of the clinic.
