Mount Ski Gull Alpine Team competes at Spirit Mountain

An impressive number of racers represented the Mount Ski Gull Alpine Team Sunday at Spirit Mountain in Duluth. According to organizers, 55 youth from the Brainerd lakes area – ranging in age from 5 to 18 – raced at the first competition of the season.

Equally impressive, 26 of Mount Ski Gull’s racers placed in the top six of their respective age groups.

Sierra Larson of Pequot Lakes placed first in the girls’ 5 and under division. Millie Taylor of Crosslake placed first in the 6-7 year old girls’ division with a time of 1:42.66.

Gavin Hoelzel of East Gull Lake placed second in the boys’ 8-9 year old division with a time of 1:12.49. Madison Kalenberg of Nisswa placed second in the girls’ 10-11 year old division with a time of 1:15.28. Calvin Madison of East Gull Lake placed second in the boys’ 10-11 year old division with 1:01.77.

Grace McGuire of Crosslake placed first in the 12-13 year old girls’ division with a time of 56.94. Grant Madison of East Gull Lake placed second in his 14-15 year old boys’ division with a time of 1:01.01. Ashley Fitterer of East Gull Lake grabbed second place honors in the girls’ 16-17 year old division with a time of 59.44.

The next race for the Mount Ski Gull Alpine Team is scheduled for Jan. 19 on their home hill at Mount Ski Gull.
