Revolution takes third in jazz at invitational

The Pequot Lakes Revolution Dance Team placed third in the varsity jazz competition at the Alexandria Dance Team Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 4.

Pequot Lakes placed behind St. Cloud Cathedral and Rocori.

In the high kick category, Pequot Lakes placed sixth out of 11 teams, with 317 total points and a rank score of 16.5.

Coach Amber Peterson said, “We felt that the girls performed strong at the Alexandria Invite. This was one of our biggest competitions of the season. We made a lot of changes to the routines over winter break, finding out what is working and what is not. We are still working on tuning up small details before we are fully satisfied with our final routines that we will bring to the section tournament.”

Pequot Lakes won first place in the junior varsity jazz category.

“It was so exciting finishing in the first-place position with our jazz performance being it was our first time competing it,” said Coach Jayde Jensen.

In high kick, the junior varsity dancers finished third.

“We placed third for kick, which is what we wanted. The competition was very tough. Our kick routine continues to get better with every performance,” Jensen said.
