Warriors 8th at ski meet

The Brainerd Warrior girls’ alpine (downhill) skiing team finished eighth at the Wild Mountain Invitational meet on Friday, Dec. 20, in Taylors Falls.

Two Pequot Lakes’ students competed for the Warriors as Jaden Lindner placed 99th with a combined time of 2:18.27 while Grace McGuire was in 84th place after her first run, but didn’t complete a second run. Mahtomedi was the girls’ team winner.

“I’m pleased with eighth place out of 22 teams considering we only have three clean runs,” said Warrior coach Jim Ruttger. “We also skied without Alex Stone (Pequot Lakes freshman), who is in Portland.”

Ruttger said that Stone will be back for the Warriors’ next meet on Thursday, Jan. 2 at Giants Ridge in Biwabik.
