Revolution dance team participates in two competitions

The Revolution dance team participated in two competitions as well as the Just for Kix Winter Show in the past week, placing third in Aitkin and first in Bemidji.

The Aitkin All-Starz hosted a high kick conference meet Thursday, Dec. 12, where the Pequot Lakes varsity team took third, with rank points of 9, behind Aitkin and Crosby-Ironton. Pierz, Detroit Lakes and Wadena followed Pequot Lakes in the final placements. Pine River-Backus did not compete.

The Northern Lights Conference has expanded this year to include Detroit Lakes and Wadena, in addition to Aitkin, Crosby-Ironton, Pierz and Pine River-Backus.

“Our kick scores improved from the Detroit Lakes Invite to the Aitkin conference meet to show the girls are working in the right direction,” said Revolution Coach Amber Peterson.

The Revolution junior varsity placed second.

On Saturday, Dec. 14, Pequot Lakes took first in all categories at the Bemidji Invite. In varsity kick, the Revolution finished with 279 total points, with a rank score of 4. The varsity jazz team, competing for the first time this season, received a rank score of 3, with a total of 321 points.

Junior varsity also won the high kick competition.

“The Bemidji Invite was so good for our teams,” Peterson said. “The jazz team did excellent for their first time competing. They were nervous prior to going out, but did not show it in their performance. I’m so pleased with the way the team is working together this season, encouraging each other to continue to push past their limits.”
