Princeton 6, Lightning 1

On Tuesday, Nov. 26, Northern Lakes was outshot 53-16 in losing to the Tigers in a non-conference game before a large crowd at Breezy Point Arena.

“Princeton was a good team with two returning 40-point guys,” Lightning head coach Craig Larson said of Collin Buness and Jake Green, who each had three points. “We were taken back by their speed. We didn’t see that speed in our first game (an opening season win over Breckenridge/Wahpeton).

“We couldn’t get into a groove. We don’t have a lot of experience with only one player returning with more than 10 points (last season). It will get better once we learn our new system.”

Larson added that goaltender Jaeger Reed improved as the game progressed while making his first start of the season.

“As the game went on, he got dialed in,” Larson said of Reed, who finished with 37 saves. “Jaeger played well in our scrimmage against Virginia. So it’s important to give both of our goalies a look.”

Nick Reed scored for Northern Lakes, assisted by Nick Olson, on the power play in the third period.
