Patriots fall to Lakers

The Pequot Lakes Patriots suffered their first Mid-State Conference loss of the season when they were defeated by the host Detroit Lakes Lakers 25-15, 25-22, 22-25 and 25-15 on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

“Detroit Lakes is a good team,” said Pequot Lakes coach Kate Dale. “The match was possibly for the (Mid-State) Conference title, and it would have been nice to win.”

Vanessa Lane finished with 10 kills and 10 blocks for the Patriots while teammate Katie White added 15 set assists and 12 kills. Laura Squires had 12 digs and Morgan Lohmiller added 12 set assists.

Pequot Lakes, 2-1 in the conference and 11-6 overall, played at Park Rapids on Tuesday, Oct. 8, and then host Pine River-Backus on Thursday, Oct. 10. The Patriots then play at the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 12.
