The Patriot boys were led by Tony Fitzer’s 13th place finish while the Pequot Lakes girls were paced by Jackie Brine-Doyle’s 17th place performance. A total of 140 boys and 121 girls competed.

"Tony (Fitzer) did a nice job on junior varsity last year, and now he's stepping up on varsity," said Pequot Lakes coach Jon Dale. "We have a young team, but Tony is part of a group of freshmen who should be our next elite runners.

"Jackie (Brine-Doyle) is also running well. She's one of the hardest workers on our team."

Pequot Lakes was scheduled to compete at Bagley-Fosston on Tuesday, Sept. 17, and then travel to the Pillager Invitational at Madden's Resort at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19.
