Ace Run disc golf event slated Oct. 19 in Ironton

Email

A Legacy Discs Ace Run, a nationwide disc golf event, is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Ironton’s Morningside Park.

Players will get only two shots on each hole to get a hole-in-one, or “ace.” And, because all of Morningside Park’s holes will be shortened for the event, it’s a great opportunity for anyone to try the sport, said Matt Perrine, the event’s tournament director.

“I ran a similar event in August at Brainerd’s Lum Park, and people just seemed to be having fun,” he said, “and, because of the shortened distances to the tees, it’s a great introduction to the sport for all age groups and skill levels.

“Even if you’ve never tried your hand at disc golf before, you’ll at least have some fun at the Ace Run and get to take home some new discs for your next outing.”

Cost for the Ace Run is $30, and payment is due Oct. 1. Players receive a number of items from the U.S.-based Legacy Discs for participating, including a Dri-Fit T-shirt and two discs that must be used at the event. (Unlike other disc golf tournaments, only the new discs can be used Oct. 19.)
