One of those veteran players is sophomore Haley Wiebolt, who was last year’s team most valuable player after finishing 24-6 overall at No. 1 singles. The three-year player has a 75-12 career record.

Last year, the Patriots lost to Crookston in the Section 8A semifinals and also finished second behind Staples-Motley in the Mid-State Conference with a 5-1 dual meet record.

“Staples-Motley is one of the tougher teams in our section and conference with six strong returning players, but we have other competitive teams on our schedule, too,” said head coach Monica Sergent, who is starting her 10th season as head coach. “We have a total of 30 girls out for varsity and junior varsity, which is a strong number for a school that is our size.”

Letterwinners include senior captains Ellie Erholtz, Jaden Lindner and Erika Monson. Others are Wiebolt and Lauren Bengtson, three-year letterwinners; Carly Fyle, two-year letterwinner; and Madison Galligan, Sydney Holt and Alex Nelson, one-year letterwinners. Erholtz and Bengtson were 26-4 record at No. 2 doubles last season.

Others who could contribute are Sarah Najhar, Abby Abear, Renee Anick, Brittany Knox, Carlee Waschek, Megan Malecha, Julia Teich and Allie Olson.

Assistant coaches are Brian Lempola and Brenda Hendrichs.
