Nisswa Legion prepares for playoffs

The Nisswa American Legion baseball team finished the regular season 11-9 overall after splitting with Monticello on Friday, July 19.

Nisswa dropped the opener 10-0, but bounced back to win the nightcap 7-4.

Nisswa advances to the District 8 Substate Division 1 playoffs in Grand Rapids on Thursday, July 25.

In the second game, Nisswa’s Conor Gessell slugged an RBI double while TJ Graumann drove in a run with a suicide squeeze. Graumann finished with two hits while Beau Janousek picked up the win with three innings of shutout relief. Both teams finished with seven hits.

In the opener, Monticello enjoyed a 9-2 edge in hits. Drew Sannes was the losing pitcher while Quinn McElfesh.

Nisswa splits with Cold Spring

Graumann struck out 12 over seven innings as he tossed a complete game to lead Nisswa over Cold Spring 3-1 in the first half of a doubleheader on Wednesday, July 17. Cold Spring won the second game 4-2.

Nate DeChaine smacked a double in the first game and Beau Janousek contributed two hits. Nisswa enjoyed a 7-1 edge in hits. Both teams had six hits in the second game as Dillon Solid took the loss.

Troy Lenz smacked an RBI double for Nisswa as DeChaine added a sacrifice fly RBI.
