The Victory League North amateur baseball league’s winner’s bracket game between the No. 2 seeded Nisswa Lightning and the top-seeded Fort Ripley Rebels was rained out on Sunday, July 14.


The game is scheduled to be made up at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 19, in Pierz. The loser will face the Freeport Black Sox in the loser bracket game on Saturday, July 20.

On Saturday, July 13, Nisswa defeated Freeport 7-1 while Fort Ripley topped St. Mathias 6-3 in the double elimination tournament.

Against Freeport, Jeremiah Piepkorn went 4-for-5 to lead Nisswa, which enjoyed an 11-6 edge in hits.

Drew Boland was 3-for-4 with two runs scored while Luke Schumer was 2-for-3 with three RBI. Aaron Jenkins also scored two runs.

Boland, Piepkorn and Schumer all doubled for Nisswa, which led 3-0 after the first inning.

Jason Roepke earned the pitching win for the Lightning. He allowed six hits while striking out five and walking just one in going the distance.
