Week four of the Hackensack Children’s Fishing Contest (HCFC) started off cloudy with a chance of thunderstorms. The contest got off to a good start, but was cut short due to weather. The kids and parents stayed as we awarded prizes and goodie bags to all.

All the usual things are happening at the contest this year, free bait, hot dogs, pop/water, minnow races, casting contest. Bring a pole and PFD (“life jacket”) and come have fun, for ages 0-15. Everyone receives prizes and anyone can be the grand champion and win the rod/reel combo with tackle box full of tackle.

The contest runs every Tuesday through Aug. 20. New this year, we are giving away a $400 Garmin GPS at the end of the year. Each registering youth can enter one time for the year (duplicate entries will be thrown out) and we will draw the winner at the end of the season. Need not be present to win, just to enter.
