Nisswa Lightning lose to St. Stephen 4-3

A three-run sixth inning sparked the St. Stephen Steves past the Nisswa Lightning 4-3 in a Victory League game on Friday, June 7.

John Schumer pitched six solid innings for the Steves to get the win. Nick Krippner pitched shutout ball over the final three frames to get a save. Joe Davoli took the loss.

Aaron Tschumperlin went 3-for-4 St. Stephen, which had a 10-8 edge in hits. Drew Boland, Mike Zauhar and Brett Jenkins each had two hits for Nisswa.

In the bottom of the ninth, Nisswa got the potential tying run to second base and the winning run on first with one out. But Krippner got a flyout and a groundout to end the game.

Nisswa’s game at Opole on Sunday, June 9, was postponed by rain.
