Patriot girls win section golf title

The Pequot Lakes Patriots cruised past the field at the Section 6AA girls' golf meet Tuesday, June 4, at Blackberry Ridge in Sartell.

The Patriots, who shot a school record 303 score on Monday, led by 28 strokes on Tuesday when the meet was called after 27 holes over two days.

Pequot Lakes' Maggie Heggerston earned medalist honors with a 109 (for 27 holes) while teammate Savannah Stone was second with 111.

It's the second section title in three years for the Patriots, who finished fourth at state in 2011. The Class AA state meet is June 11-12 in Jordan.
