Porta wins discus title at subsection meet

Pine River-Backus’ Megan Porta won the discus title with a toss of 99-feet at the Subsection 3, Section 6AA track and field meet on Thursday, May 23, at Sebeka.

Pequot Lakes won the girls’ title while the Tigers finished ninth.

In the boys’ meet, Pequot Lakes was second behind Pillager while the Tigers were eighth in the boys’ meet. PR-B’s Brandon Mager finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles and the triple jump.

The top five individuals and top two relays will advance to the Section 6AA finals Section 6A meet, which is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday, May 30, at Minnesota State, Moorhead.
