Lightning lose amateur baseball opener


Matt Siegel homered and drove in three runs as the St. Mathias Devils edged the visiting Nisswa Lightning 9-8 on Sunday, May 5, on the opening day of the Victory League amateur baseball season.

The Lightning, who was postponed at Freeport on Friday, May 5, play at Fort Ripley at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 19.

Against St. Mathias, Nisswa’s Adam Hardy hit two home runs while Jason Roepke and Jeremiah Piepkorn added solo shots.
