Patriots 5th at W-DC boys' golf meet

Pequot Lakes boys finished fifth at the at the Mid-Minnesota Conference meet on Friday, May 3, at Whitetail Run in Wadena.

Kevin Beltz paced the Patriots with a round of 83. Cody Mager of Pine River-Backus was one of three golfers who carded rounds of 79 to tie for medalist honors.

Mager tied for medalist honors with Crosby-Ironton’s James Cragun and Staples-Motley’s Andrew Israelson. Staples-Motley finished first by two strokes over Park Rapids while the Tigers placed seventh.

The Patriots are scheduled to play at Deacon’s Lodge in Breezy Point at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, and then travel to Bemidji for an invitational at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 10.

Patriots defeat Tigers

The Pequot Lakes boys’ golf team defeated Pine River-Backus 177 to 199 in a dual meet played on Thursday, May 2, at Emily Greens.

The Tigers’ Cody Mager earned medalist honors with a 38 while the Patriots were led by Trenton Beyer with 42, Kevin Beltz with 43 and Nic Olmscheid with 42.

Pequot Lakes scores: Beyer 42, Beltz 43, Olmscheid 44, Ethan Neitzke 48, Caleb Bermel 58, Jack Kreitz 61.
