Foley sweeps Patriots in baseball opener

The Pequot Lakes Patriots baseball team opened its season by losing a non-conference doubleheader at Foley by scores of 6-2 and 4-3 on Friday, April 26.

Aspen Florey and Justin Olson had the only two hits for the Patriots in the opener. Pequot Lakes committed six errors while Foley had three. Peter Kostecka was the losing pitcher while Mike Plante earned the win.

Losing pitcher Jordan Redmond allowed six hits and four earned runs in the second game. The Falcons enjoyed a 6-5 edge in hits in the second game.

Austin Mesenbrink went 2-for-3 with a double while Gaven Bickford added a three-run single in the doubleheader.

Pequot Lakes, which was scheduled to face Northland-Remer on Tuesday, April 30, will host Park Rapids in a doubleheader at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 2.
