Lightning defeat DL 6-1

The visiting Northern Lakes Lightning girls’ hockey team skated past Detroit Lakes 6-1 in a Mid-State Conference matchup on Thursday, Jan. 24.

Northern Lakes, 11-9 overall, were scheduled to play Hibbing/Chisholm on Tuesday, Jan. 29, and then host Wadena-Deer Creek in a Mid-State Conference game on Thursday, Jan. 31.

Kaylyn Eggena scored twice and added an assist to lead Northern Lakes. Alex Palm added a goal and an assist for the Lightning as goaltender Kat Jensen had 25 saves.

Isabella Abear, Erika Monson, and Megan Snyder also scored goals for Northern Lakes.

Nicole Bartels scored twice to lead the Cardinals to a 4-2 non-conference win over Northern Lakes on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Breezy Point Arena.

Kaylyn Eggena had a goal and one assist for the Lightning while teammates Bella Abear added a goal and Mariah Reed had an assist.

Alexandria enjoyed a 38-14 edge in shots on goal. Jensen turned aside 34 shots while winning netminder Bailey Serum stopped just 12 shots.
