Lakers cruise past Patriots

The visiting Pequot Lakes Patriots girls’ basketball team fell to the Detroit Lakes Lakers in a 63-40 Mid-State Conference game on Thursday, Jan. 24.

Kayla Miller scored 13 points for the Patriots while Katie White followed with 11 points.

Pequot Lakes trailed 28-23 at intermission before being outscored 35-17 in the second half.

“We didn’t play well, especially in the second half,” said Patriots’ coach Jon Dale. “We certainly didn’t get many calls to go our way.”

The Patriots, 3-2 in the conference and 11-7 overall, were scheduled to host Park Rapids on Tuesday, Jan. 29, and then travel to Wadena-Deer Creek on Tuesday, Feb. 5.
