Park Rapids skates past Lightning boys 5-1

The host Park Rapids Panthers downed the Northern Lakes Lightning boys’ hockey team 5-1 in Mid-State Conference play on Thursday, Dec. 20.

The Lightning, 0-3 in the Mid-State and 4-5 overall, are scheduled to play at Little Falls in a non-conference game on Thursday, Jan. 3.

Ben Moe tallied the only goal for Northern Lakes, with an assist from Austin Messenbrink.

Dylan Phillips hit a power-play goal and found an empty net in the final minute to propel the Wolverines past the Northern Lakes on Tuesday, Dec. 18.

Gaven Bickford and Kegan Couture had first period goals for the Lightning, who had won three in a row. Ben Moe assisted on Bickford’s goal while Alex Galligan and Aspen Florey set up Bickford’s goal.

The Wolverines tied the game 2-2 in the second period on Dylan Phillps’ power-play goal.
