Patriots beat Panthers

The Pequot Lakes girls’ basketball team improved to 2-0 in the Mid-State Conference and 5-1 overall with a convincing 82-34 win over the host Park Rapids Panthers on Tuesday, Dec. 11.

The Patriots were schedule to host a pair of non-conference games this week - Pine River-Backus on Tuesday, Dec. 18, and Mountain Iron-Buhl on Thursday, Dec. 20.

Kayla Miller finished with 26 points while Vanessa Lane had 23 to lead the Patriots.

“Kayla and Vanessa led us in scoring, but everyone played well,” said Pequot Lakes coach Jon Dale. “Our press realy worked well as we had a 41-16 lead at the half. It’s tough to go over to Park Rapids and play. They’re rebuilding with a new coach."

The Patriots enjoyed a 20-13 edge in rebounds, with Lane grabbing six. Katie White added 10 points in the win.
