Alpine skiers open season

Pequot Lakes eighth grader Alex Stone finished 12th with a time of 74.56 seconds to pace the Brainerd Warrior girls’ alpine (downhill) skiing team to a fourth-place finish in the season-opening Cook County Invitational on Friday, Dec. 14.

Another Pequot Lakes student, junior Jaden Lindner, finished 17th for the Warriors. Senior Maddison Olson, also from Pequot Lakes, did not finish.

The Brainerd boys were seventh. The Warriors’ Tristan Elsenpeter was 50th in 1:05:24. Cloquet/Esko/Carlton won the girls’ title while Cook County won the boys’ title.

The Warriors are scheduled to ski at the Wild Mountain Invitational at 9 a.m., Friday, Dec. 21 at Taylor Falls.
