Nisswa Chamber CEO thanks volunteers

On behalf of the Nisswa Chamber and the planning committee for the 67th annual Minnesota Governor’s Fishing Opener, I’d like to thank the 349 volunteers who helped us execute a nearly flawless community picnic Friday, May 9.

Whether you provided help with traffic, security, food service, table bussing, etc. — each and every one of you helped us make the community picnic a huge success.

There were many individuals and groups that helped. Civic groups, businesses, churches, schools, people who heard about it on the radio … the list is too long to list.

When I think about a sense of community, and a sense of belonging, I will forever think about this event and this town. It is my hope that everyone who attended the event was able to see the hospitality, the smiles and the strong sense of community that we were able to showcase on Friday, May 9.

We hope the media personnel are able to write stories about our community, to share their experiences while here in the Brainerd lakes area, and that they will encourage their listeners/readers to come and visit us, whether it be for a day, a weekend, a week or even longer.

God bless each one of our volunteers. We are grateful for each of you. Nisswa is a great place to live, work and play.

Shawn Hansen,

CEO, Nisswa Chamber of Commerce

I've worked at the Brainerd Dispatch with various duties since Dec. 7, 1983. Starting off as an Ad Designer and currently Director of Audience Development. The Dispatch has been an interesting and challenging place to work. I'm fortunate to have made many friends, both co-workers and customers.
