Bipartisan work gets job done
gets job done
Throughout the legislative session, local legislators have been working together on a number of local issues, including the water/sewer extension for the Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport, the extension of the Brainerd-Baxter local option sales tax and Baxter’s tax-increment financing.
Working as a team in a bipartisan way really does produce bipartisan results. I want to take a moment to thank all of our state legislators and all of our local officials and staff from Brainerd and Baxter. Working together we were able to save those three pieces of legislation that were dying on the vine.
The three bills were all moving through one chamber or another, but were not moving together and were in danger of being left behind.
Through a lot of hard work, communication and creative and innovative thinking, we were able to successfully insert all three important local pieces in the Tax Conference Committee Report. There are still a few hurdles to go, but things are looking more promising by the day.
Working together in a bipartisan fashion gets the job done once again. Thanks again to everyone who put in the hard work to make this a reality.
Rep. John Ward, DFL-Baxter
