GOP legislators attend caucuses

After reading the caucus night coverage in the news I felt I should share with you my experience. GOP legislators also attended their caucuses.

Along with help from Phyllis and John Struthers I convened nine precincts at Nisswa Elementary School. We were very pleased with the attendance, 55 folks, good attendance for a non-presidential year.

A local mayor gave the invocation and we were honored to have a local disabled Vietnam veteran lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

We were thrilled to have the 8th Congressional District candidate Stewart Mills address the auditorium in person and join his caucus. I spoke on behalf of Senate candidate Julianne Ortman and another gentleman spoke on behalf of Senate candidate Chris Dahlberg.

A young lady who is a student at Pequot Lakes was excited to participate because this will be the first election in which she can vote. We conducted a straw poll, delegates and alternates were elected and many resolutions were debated.

It was truly grassroots politics at its best, and as Paul Harvey would say, “is the rest of the story.”
