A heartfelt thanks to Nisswa First Responders

Email

A heartfelt thanks is being sent to all those individuals who are trained as Nisswa Area First Responders. I am so grateful to have these men and women who are willing to be the first to come when 911 is called.

On Thanksgiving afternoon we were in need of emergency assistance when a friend who was visiting our home had a diabetic seizure. Within two minutes, while we were still on the phone with the dispatcher, the first trained responder arrived who was willing to help!

After the ordeal was over and our friend had recovered, we realized the men who came were all neighbors, friends and acquaintances of our family. Wow, this was truly amazing not only to have these men trained and ready to come, but to know them as well!

A few years ago I needed to call 911 and we waited alone for the ambulance to come from Brainerd — a very long wait when you are faced with a critical medical emergency. There were no First Responders at that time.

Today, I am so thankful to have these guys close by should we ever be in need of emergency medical assistance again. Truly, a heartfelt thanks to each of you again for this way in which you serve as volunteers to assist others in need. It is greatly appreciated.

Jan Sterner,

Nisswa

I've worked at the Brainerd Dispatch with various duties since Dec. 7, 1983. Starting off as an Ad Designer and currently Director of Audience Development. The Dispatch has been an interesting and challenging place to work. I'm fortunate to have made many friends, both co-workers and customers.
