War zone in Ideal Township

Friday, July 6, at 11:15 p.m., I called the Crow Wing County sheriff at 218-829-4749 to report it sounded like a war zone — I live in a log cabin on Lower Whitefish Lake — and that my golden retriever, Murphy, had kept me awake for three nights.

Sunday night, July 7, at 9:29 p.m., Murphy was quick to awaken me. Both of us watched television on high volume for more than an hour. The last series of fireworks ended at 10:33 p.m. (Murphy’s Law: “If something can go wrong, it will.”)

We know from last year that there will be nightly fireworks through 2013. So, if you share my concerns, have a dog and know the names of those responsible, please call me at 218-543-4355. My name is in the telephone book.
