Ward, Radinovich did their job

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Reps. John Ward and Joe Radinovich for their support for the freedom to marry bill (now law).

It is not always easy to do the right thing. The Constitution grants every American citizen equal protection under the law. The representatives took an oath to uphold the Constitution, and that is what they did. They did not deserve political fallout for doing their job.

I understand that an effort is being made to recall both Rep. Radinovich and Rep. Ward. It is a foolish effort. Those attempting to advance the recalls would have to prove that each representative is guilty of malfeasance and misfeasance in carrying out their official duties.

Voting on a bill before the Legislature does not meet the standard for either offense. Do we really want to see our legislators subject to recall on a vote they made? Nothing would ever be accomplished since legislators would spend all of their time defending themselves for every vote they cast.

Thank you, Reps. Ward and Radinovich. Never doubt that you did the right thing by upholding the Constitution. You can always count on my support, even when I don’t agree with you.
