The fall sports season is under way and our teams are busy. We are extremely excited to be in the new Athletic Center.

Here are some tips you may find useful as you attend your first event of the fall season.

• Cross country: The Pequot Lakes Invite will be Thursday, Sept. 5. The meet has a new venue this year: It will be held at Emily Greens Golf Course on Highway 1 in Emily. Start time is 4 p.m.

• Tennis: The season is well under way, and if you haven’t already been to a meet, things are pretty much the same as in years past. Parking is available between the courts and the football field. We ask that you stay clear of the new pole vault area on the west end of the courts.

• Volleyball: The first home match is Thursday, Sept. 12 vs. Staples-Motley. We will have a dedication ceremony that evening. Park on the east side of the complex and enter the Athletic Center/Community Education doors nearest the parking lot.

The JV and “C” matches will start at 6 p.m.; the dedication will take place at 7 p.m. with the varsity match to follow.

The “C” match will be played in the Auxiliary Gym (the eastern most gym) and JV and varsity will play on the main court of the Athletic Center. Pequot Lakes School Board members will give tours of the whole facility from 6-7 p.m. (meet by the concession stand).

The Patriot Activity Club (PAC) will provide free popcorn and admission to the games will be free!

• Football: The first home varsity game is Friday, Sept. 13, vs. East Grand Forks at 7 p.m. There will be a brief dedication ceremony for the new football field and track before the kickoff.

Fans are asked to park in the new parking lots on the east side of the school and enter through the new Athletic Center/Community Education entrance, walk down the main hallway (west) and enter the field area by the new outdoor concession stand. From there you may choose to sit in the bleachers, hang out on the plaza near the concession stand or watch from along the fence.

You may also watch the game from the areas near the end zones. In order to prolong the life of our track, fans are not to be on the track at any time.

Restrooms will be available in the Athletic Center. Please note that parking in the immediate area of the football field will be very limited. There will be no parking on the south side of the field.

Admission for this event will be free and PAC will provide free popcorn.

The JV team hosted the first game of the season Tuesday, Sept. 3 vs. Perham at 5 p.m.

We are also pleased to announce that Patriot athletics will again be on the radio this year. Games will be broadcast on KLKS at 100.1 on your FM dial. A full schedule of fall games being broadcast will be available soon.

We are very excited about kicking off the new year and getting into the new facility We hope you can join us as we celebrate the new facility and start a new season. Go, Patriots!

See you at the games!
