Laurel Lou Lever

Laurel Lou Lever passed away at her Heartwood home in Crosby, Minn., on Tuesday, March 4, 2014.

Laurel was born April 27, 1928, to Wilfred and Ida Campbell. She spent her childhood in Minneapolis and Duluth. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis in 1946.

Laurel married John (Jack) Lever Sr., on Jan. 10, 1948. They made their home in the suburbs of Minneapolis. Jack and Laurel took to the road as Jack was retiring and RV’d through the U.S. They began spending winters in Arizona and summers at the cabin in the Cinosam neighborhood on Gull Lake.

Laurel was a lifelong lover of song and dance. She started tap dancing at an early age and continued into her later years traveling the world as a member of the Rhythm Tappers, a dance group from Sun City West, Ariz.

In 2012, Jack and Laurel moved to Heartwood, a senior living community, in Crosby, Minn. Jack passed away shortly thereafter and Laurel made many new friends in the Heartwood family.

Laurel was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, her parents and her sister, Vonda.

Laurel is survived by her sons, John Jr. (Pat), Elysian, Minn., and Scott, Kauai, Hawaii; her daughters, Melinda (Joe) Re, Lake Shore, Minn., and Marie (Ted) Egger, Plymouth, Minn; nine grown grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and a nephew.

A celebration of life was at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Heartwood in Crosby, Minn.

Our memories of Laurel will forever “sparkle” in our hearts!

Nelson-Doran Funeral Home and Crematory, Brainerd, was in charge of arrangements.
