Dorothy Arlene Hunt, 75, of Walker, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014.

She was born Oct. 22, 1938, in White, Pa., the daughter of Harry and Martha (Barnes) Christman. Dorothy grew up in Smock, Pa., and later graduated from Uniontown High School in the summer of 1956. Later that year she was united in marriage to George William Hunt III on Nov. 17, in Melrose Park, Ill. Dorothy worked for Ah-Gwah-Ching treatment center as a nurse for 30 years. She and George also owned Fisher’s Point Resort for 15 years and Leech Lake Lanes bowling alley. Dorothy took pride in delivering Meals on Wheels, being active in the church and spending time with her grandchildren. You could see a glimmer in Dorothy’s eye when she would take her grandchildren out on the pontoon.

Dorothy joins her family waiting for her, which includes her parents, Harry and Martha; sisters, Anna and Carolyn; and one brother, Wilbur.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 57 years, George; sons, George Hunt IV and his wife, Rachael, of Brooklyn Center, Minn., Dave and his significant other, Becky Adair, of Ames, Iowa, and Ron and his fiancé, Lisa Ramirez, of Farmington, Minn.; daughter, Cindy and her husband, Bob Nies, of Breezy Point, Minn.; brother, Edward Christman and his wife, JoEllen, of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Jennifer, Roshelle, George V, Christopher, Brittany, Breana, Aleyna, Andrew, Jessica and Amanda; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Joshua and Isaac; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at the Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Walker, Minn., with the Rev. Mark Widman officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, and one hour prior to the service Saturday. Pallbearers helping to lay her to rest will be her sons, George IV, Dave and Ron Hunt; grandsons, George V and Christopher Hunt; and her son-in-law, Bob Nies. Honorary pallbearer is her brother, Edward Christman.
