Kathleen G. Collins, 67, Remer, Minn., died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Evergreen Terrace in Grand Rapids.
Kathleen was born in 1945 to David and Joyce LaVoie in Pine River, Minn., where she grew up and attended school. On Feb. 3, 1962, she was married to Alonzo P. Collins in Walker, Minn. They lived in Backus, Minn., for several years prior to moving to Remer where they have lived for many years.
Kathleen loved her grandchildren and “adopted” many of the area children. She also loved her pets.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce, and her granddaughter, Trisha Collins.
She is survived by her husband of more than 51 years, Alonzo “Jack”; her two children, Alonzo “Charlie” (Cindy) Collins Jr. and Brenda (Frank) Ornelas, both of Remer; her father, David LaVoie; four sisters, Merrilou, Sharon, Patty and Darlene; three brothers, Sonny, Joe and Donald, all of Oregon; four grandchildren, Michael Watson, Anthony Collins, Alonzo Collins III and Latasha Hausken; and 10 great-grandchildren, Kindra, Layton, Chandler, Adrianna, Sadie, Jack, Preston, Skyla, Jostin and Phillip.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, March 9, at Congregational Church in Remer. The Rev. Bruce Pound will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Remer.
