Ernest White, 97, of Pequot Lakes, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Senior Class Care.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, at St. Alice Catholic Church in Pequot Lakes with Father George Zeck and Deacon Mike Knuth officiating. Family and friends were invited to gather one hour prior to services at the church. Interment followed at Pequot Lakes Cemetery.
Ernest was born May 9, 1915, in South Omaha, Neb., the son of Ernest and Mary (Schimonitz) White. He was united in marriage to Alfreda Krings on June 18, 1941, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Omaha, Neb. He was a pullman for the railroad. Ernest served three terms with the U.S. Navy. He owned and operated a floral shop in St. Paul before retiring as a security guard for Mutual Life.
Ernest and Alfreda moved to Pequot Lakes in 1985. He was very dedicated to his church and to the pro-life campaign. Ernest enjoyed games, food, bowling, the outdoors, birds and flowers.
Ernest is survived by his sister, Doris McClenahan, of Grant, Neb.; a brother, Kenneth (Maxie) White, of the Philippines; a niece, Kathy Paris, of Fort Collins, Colo.; and his adopted family, Deacon Mike and Lori Knuth, of Pequot Lakes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alfreda; his parents; and a sister, Laurene.
