Gladys Mae (Blomquist) West passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013.

Gladys was born June 15, 1930, in Willmar, Minn. Gladys graduated from Willmar High Shool in 1948 and went to work at Montgomery Ward as a secretary, and then moved into sales for Lloyd’s Radio Shop where she met Gale West in February 1950. They were married in September 1950.

They lived with their children in Hutchinson, Minn., Cambridge, Minn., and later in Northfield where Glady worked at Greenvale Elementary. They later lived in Pine River at their lake home where Glady worked at the KTIG Christian radio station. They later moved to Kenyon where they now call home.

Gladys was a caring and giving person, who still gives to others through donation of her body for research on Parkinson’s, heart disease and macular degeneraton.

Her home always smelled of fresh baked goods and fresh flowers from her garden and was a haven to her family. Her faith in her Lord and Savior gives comfort to those she leaves behind, as they know she is in paradise.

Glady is survived by her husband and best friend, Gale of 63 years; her five children, Jerry (Bridget) West, Carrel (Mark) Steneman, Janet (Pat) Kruse, Jim (Amy) West and Nancy (Jeff) Solinger. She has 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many close friends and loved ones.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, at New Life Church in Wanamingo, Minn., at 1 p.m.
