Richard “Dick” Winkelman

Richard “Dick” Winkelman, 90, of Pequot Lakes, passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society Woodland in Brainerd.

He was born to Howard and Frances Winkelman on Aug. 13, 1922, in Marian, N.D. Dick served in the U.S. Army from 1942-45. He was a blacksmith and worked for the city of Pequot Lakes as a maintenance worker for 20 years. He was a member of the Jenkins VFW, Pequot Lakes Legion and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

Dick is survived by his wife of 65 years, Junice; children, Marilyn (Larry) Long of Lake Helen, Fla., Robert (Raelene) Winkelman of Pequot Lakes, and Janet (Gary) Zacharias of Wadena; a brother, Paul (Marlys) Winkelman of Venice, Fla.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Grace Bjornson.

Services were at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Pequot Lakes, with Pastor Frank Milo officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Pequot Lakes City Cemetery.

Arrangements were with Kline Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes.
