• Safety Kids for ages 4-6: 9 a.m.-noon Wednesday-Friday, June 4-6, at the Trailside Center (Pequot Lakes Baptist Church). Cost is $30. Registration is due Friday, May 23,
Teachers, police officers, community resource people and volunteer teen instructors will help develop healthy, safe attitudes in children. Children learn about various aspects of safety through classroom activities, songs and videos. They practice pedestrian skills and experience “real life” situations by driving tot-sized vehicles through a miniature city layout complete with city blocks, buildings and stop signs.
Parent presentation will be Friday, June 4.
• Summer Fun with Friends Preschool Class for ages 3-5: 9-11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 10, 12, 17, 19, 24 and 26, Early Childhood Family Center Room 302 at Eagle View Elementary School. Cost is $80. Registration is due by Friday, May 23.
Children will do a variety of age-appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, singing songs and learning finger plays, playing simple instruments, reading stories, eating snack, playing outside and more.
Class size is limited. Children must be 3 by June 1 and potty-trained. Instructor is Jessie Mudgett, Early Childhood Family Education/School Readiness teacher.
• Young Performers Day Camp for students currently in grades 1-8: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, June 19-21, Pequot Lakes High School choir and band room. Cost is $90, which includes T-shirt and snacks. Registration is due by Wednesday, May 30, with a maximum of 30 students.
Creative, imaginative kids in grades 1-4 and 5-8 are encouraged to participate to explore various areas of theater and performing. No previous performing experience is necessary. These are three full, fast-paced days that conclude with a free family and friends performance the last day of camp.
Sessions will include acting, singing, dancing, theater games, character development and improvisation games. Older youth will learn to write short plays and skits. Participants are welcome to develop a small group or solo act and perform at the friends and family performance.
Registration is limited to 30 youth, separated into two groups of 15 each. All groups perform together for the final number. Bring a bag lunch and beverage each day.
Instructor is Susan Mathison-Young. The final performance will be held in the high school auditorium.
