Local teacher could be VFW's teacher award winner

Commander John Warren of the Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #3839, announced the 15th annual VFW and its Ladies Auxiliary Smart/Maher VFW Citizen-ship Education Teacher Award contest.

Teachers who teach K-5, 6-8 and 9-12 grades can be nominated by fellow teachers, students, supervisors or other interested individuals and can win $1,000 for their professional development and $1,000 for their school, plus an all-expenses paid trip to the VFW’s national convention in July.

Teachers are nominated and sent to the local VFW Post competition, and the deadline for entering is Nov. 1. Post winners advance to district. District winners compete in the state competition. State winners compete in the national competition.
