University of Central Oklahoma

Breezy Point resident Kevin Carl Bergquist will graduate from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Okla., with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in design/graphic design during commencement ceremonies May 9-10.

Scholarship winner

Carley Hoffman, a soon-to-be graduate of Pequot Lakes High School, is one of 20 recipients of a $2,500 Minnesota Power Community Involvement Scholarships.

In partnership with the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation, scholarships are awarded to students who live in a Minnesota Power electric service area, have maintained a good academic record and have been actively involved in volunteer projects in their communities.

Contest winner

Pequot Lakes High School junior Karl Satterlund, the son of Chris and Susan of Pequot Lakes, is one of three area high school students who will travel to Washington, D.C., in June with approximately 1,000 other students from around the nation after winning the Crow Wing Power contest.

Crow Wing Power joins other cooperatives around the nation to offer high school juniors a trip to the nation’s capital. Students in Morrison, Crow Wing and Cass counties entered the contest by writing a short essay on unique energy technologies. Other area winners are Tyler Athmann of Little Falls and Nicole Blaisdell of Hillman.

Scholarship winner

Pequot Lakes High School senior Ellie Erholtz recently was awarded a $500 Lueck/Leach Memorial scholarship.
