Pippa, the reading dog, visits PR-B elementary classrooms
Students from various Pine River-Backus Elementary School classes got company while they read on Thursday and Friday, April 24-25.
Pam Arneson brought her reading dog, Pippa, to visit the classrooms of Carla Goddard, Rob Johnson and Steffanie Bristow. Students with permission slips each got the opportunity to read a book alone with Pippa throughout the visit.
During these readings, Pippa did her best to sit patiently as the students read and pet her.
Pippa is a miniature American shepherd with therapy and reading dog training for the Bemidji Area Reading Canines Program. This is her first year as a full-time reading dog. She behaved relatively well, though near the end of her “shift” she became restless.
