PR-B speech team ends season

The Pine River-Backus High School speech team competed in the section tournament Saturday, April 5, to end the season.

Claudina Williams advanced to the final round in Informative Speaking with her piece on the “World of Illusions,” ending in fifth place for the season.

Katey Hanson advanced to a semi-final round in Poetry with her take on the poem, “To The Day,” ending in ninth place for the season.

Samantha Maurer and Mitchell Wynn took 12th place in Dramatic Duo for their interpretation of “Thtick ‘em up.”

Judy Reed and Autumn Crawford took 13th place in Dramatic Duo for their interpretation of “Better Football through High School Chemistry.”

Troy Fetter took 15th place in Prose for his interpretation of a selection from “Tuesdays with Morrie.”

Melissa Meek took 20th place in Humorous Interpretation for her take on “Grocery Shopping at the Hardware Store.”

Jarod Birr took 24th place in Humorous Interpretation for his take on “The DVD Collecting Zombie.”
