University of Minnesota, Morris

Hannah Grimley of Hackensack will be student teaching fourth grade at Voyager Elementary School in Morris through the University of Minnesota, Morris. Samuel Guida of Nisswa has been accepted to and has chosen to attend the University of Minnesota, Morris. Guida will graduate from Brainerd High School this year and will attend Morris in the fall. Guida is the recipient of an Achievement Scholarship, renewable up to four years. Achievement Scholars are selected based on their academic accomplishments at the time of application. All first-year students who submit an application to Morris are automatically considered for an Achievement Scholarship package.

University of North Dakota

Rachael Danielson and Derek Rood, both of Pequot Lakes, were named to the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, fall semester President’s Roll of Honor.

Arizona State University

Nicole Keskey of Crosslake received academic honors from the School of Letters & Sciences at Arizona State University by making the university’s fall semester dean’s list.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Carleen Ann Johnson of Nisswa was named to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln fall semester dean’s list/honor roll. Johnson is a senior biochemistry and agricultural economics major in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

University of Wisconsin, Stout

Jessica Kreitz and Sarah Thomas, both of Pequot Lakes, received the University of Wisconsin, Stout, fall semester Chancellor’s Award. Kreitz is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in industrial design. Thomas is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in retail merchandising and management.

Wheaton (Ill.) College

Gunnar Kuehl of Nisswa was named to the fall semester dean’s list at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill.

& Community College

Thomas LaRue of Breezy Point was named to the Alexandria Technical & Community College fall semester dean’s list.

University of Northwestern-St. Paul

The following area students were named to the fall semester dean’s list at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul: Anna Kloster, daughter of Deneen Kloster of Breezy Point and pursuing a degree in biology, highest honors; Katie Morford, daughter of Avery and Marsha Morford of Pequot Lakes and pursuing a degree in journalism, highest honors; Jamie Sewall, daughter of David and Sandra Sewall of Pequot Lakes and pursuing a degree in design, highest honors; Elizabeth Dodd, daughter of Sam and Robin Dodd of Hackensack and pursuing a degree in social studies education, highest honors.

Denton (Denny) Newman Jr.
I've worked at the Brainerd Dispatch with various duties since Dec. 7, 1983. Starting off as an Ad Designer and currently Director of Audience Development. The Dispatch has been an interesting and challenging place to work. I'm fortunate to have made many friends, both co-workers and customers.
