Free school breakfast at Pequot draws a crowd
The number of students eating breakfast in the Pequot Lakes School District has more than doubled since Monday, March 3, when a two-month pilot program offering the meal for free to all students kicked off.
Food service director Patty Buell said that in a typical day, the district serves 300 students between the elementary, middle and high schools. Since offering free breakfast, Buell said the numbers have risen dramatically to 700 students served per day.
