Apple Trees 101 class offered in Pequot Lakes

Learn all about growing apple trees, from root stock selection to pruning, from bug control to animal control, in a class from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 29, in the Eagle View Elementary School Media Center.

There will be plenty of time for discussion. Weather permitting, anyone interested can take a trip to the instructor’s apple orchard in Jenkins to view apple pruning (participants must drive themselves).

If the weather is bad, participants will prune the trees at Eagle View. Dress for the weather and bring pruning shears, if available.

Instructor is Jon Stachour, owner of Red Barn Orchard (
